There are many different types and brands of title insurance rate calculators out there that you can choose from depending on what’s best for your market.
For instance, you can purchase an off-the-shelf branded title quote app like Net Sheet Calc for your real estate agents and marketing representatives to use, or if you are just using the calculator internally among your staff your underwriter may provide one as well.
Here are some details behind one of the most common off-the-shelf rate calculators on the market today.
Old republic title insurance calculator: Features, Details, & Pricing
Old Republic Title is one of the largest “big 4” title insurance underwriters in the United States. Besides Old Republic Title, the other large underwriters include Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, Old Republic Title, Stewart Title, and First American Title.
Other competing title insurance rate calculators hosted by underwriters include WFG National Title, and Fidelity’s subsidiaries such as Commonwealth Title, Lawyers Title, and Chicago Title.
Each underwriter has similarities and differences, such as features they offer you as a title agent, or whether they compete directly with you in your market or not. One of those similarities is that many title insurance underwriters offer their own version of a title insurance rate calculator.
Like the other title insurance underwriters, Old Republic Title’s Insurance Calculator seems to be exclusively for title companies who underwrite with Old Republic. Also similarly, it appears to be great for rate lookups for you or your staff but appears to be primarily for internal use as it has no branding features.
Update April 2022: It appears Old Republic released a newer rate calculator here with an updated interface.
Another pro is that it provides instant access to agents without forcing them to sign in. Unlike the other underwriter title insurance calculators, it features a “map” interface that is really easy to get to your state quickly. This is one differentiating feature that we have not seen on other underwriter-based calculators.
Like Stewart title’s rate calculator, Old Republic’s title insurance calculator features 3 different calculators in one – Purchase/Sale, Refinance, and Home Equity.
Another nice feature with Old Republic’s title calculator unlike the others is the endorsement listing for each state. However, the down side with Old Republic’s rate calculator is that you don’t get the branding features you would get with one of the third party title insurance rate calculators like Net Sheet Cal, Palm Agent, and Title Capture, and since this is a general calculator, the buyer cost estimates and seller net sheets may be missing your additional fees.
Pricing
Since no pricing is listed and anyone can use this calculator, there doesn’t appear to be an additional charge for Old Republic’s title insurance calculator.
If you underwrite with Old Republic Title and want to have not only your title premiums but also your office’s fees and branding in your title insurance calculator so your customers can use it, check out Net Sheet Calc as your rate calculator.
As previously mentioned, although Old Republic’s title calculator has 3 different calculators in one, Net Sheet Calc is the only title insurance calculator to include six unique calculators in one – Seller Net Sheet, Buyer Finance Closing Cost, Buyer Cash Closing Costs, Refinance, a Title Premium Calculator widget for your website, and a non-login version for quick estimates for busy agents.
Net Sheet Calc works on all popular devices from iPhone and Android to laptops and desktops, and even includes a side-by-side scenario feature which has proven super handy in a multi-offer real estate market.
